New Here?
What You Can Expect on Sundays
Finding and attending church can be pressuring for many. At MRBC, we understand this and want to help you to have a meaningful experience when you visit with us.
It’s not unusual to have questions, doubts, concerns or fear relating to a personal relationship with the Lord.
We want to help you on this journey. When you come to Middletown Road Baptist Church, you’ll learn that you’re not only among friends, but what seems more like family, and each of us have been where you are at one point in our lives or another.
You’ll notice that most people seem to wear a dressy casual, but there’s no need to over think it too much. Your experience and the time you spend with God at the church is what’s really important.
While we’re not a mega church with a live band, at MRBC you’ll have a warm experience with friendly faces, classic Christian hymns and inspirational messages that you can apply to your own life, along with a welcoming atmosphere.
First visits anywhere can bring a lot of questions.
- How do I get there?
- Where do I park? What door do I go in?
- Will they know I’m new or can I just blend in?
- What should I wear?
- What can I expect once I’m there?
- What’s available for my kids?
We hope that we can help to answer some of your concerns below.
Personally knowing God
God desires a personal relationship with each of US! He knows every hair on our head and HE is closer than we think.
He patiently waits on US to commune with him daily by spending time each day with him in prayer and through his Word.
When we do this, we begin to experience peace, purpose and incredible transformation through his spirit on a regular basis.
I’ve never been here before?
When you come to Middletown Road Baptist Church, we have a big parking lot right outside the church and around the back of the church. You’ll want to come in the front door though since the back door is often locked. When you come in, there are steps that go up and steps that go down. You’ll want to go up the stairs to the lobby and chances are you’ll see many people there who will greet you as well. Feel free to tell them you’re new and yes they’ll probably realize that too and offer help should you have additional questions.
What to Expect at Middletown Road Baptist Church in Pittsburgh
When you visit Middletown Road Baptist Church, you will experience a warm and welcoming community that is passionate about knowing God through His Word. We are committed to creating an environment where people from all walks of life can come to hear the gospel and be transformed by the power of God’s Word.
Why Choose a Christ-Centered Church in Pittsburgh?
Choosing a Christ-centered church is one of the most important decisions you can make. At Middletown Road Baptist Church, we believe that the centrality of Christ is what sets us apart. We are committed to preaching Christ in every sermon, discipling our members in the truths of the gospel, and engaging our community with the message of salvation.
In a city like Pittsburgh, where there are many churches to choose from, we stand out because of our unwavering commitment to the authority of Scripture and the gospel of Jesus Christ. We invite you to join us as we seek to know Christ more fully and make Him known to the world.
Beholding God’s Glory in the Face of Jesus Christ
At the heart of our preaching and teaching is the desire to see and know God more fully. We believe that when we behold the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ, we are transformed into His image. This transformation happens as we study the Bible, submit to its teachings, and allow the Holy Spirit to work in our hearts.
The Bible is not just a book of rules or a collection of stories—it is the living Word of God that reveals to us the glory of Christ. As we preach through the Bible line by line, we encounter the beauty, holiness, and majesty of God, and we are changed by it. This is the essence of expository preaching—to behold God’s glory and be transformed by it.
What Do You Have For My Kids?
At MRBC we have bible study for the kids downstairs during the service. However, the kids sit in the front couple pews with the bible study teacher until it’s time to go downstairs for study. They sing a couple hymns during the service first and then move to bible study downstairs. All of our teachers are certified by the state as required by law. When the bible study ends, the kids come back upstairs until the service ends which isn’t very long at that point.
Once the service ends, fellowship and lunch starts downstairs and lasts until about 1:15 followed by an afternoon prayer service for those who can stay.
